STRESS IN PREGNANCY:

Being pregnant today can be a very stressful time in a woman 's life.  We are living in a very
fast-paced society, and as women, we are inundated daily with multi-tasking routines with work,
home and family.  Clinical studies have shown that 75 percent of illnesses are caused by stress
which is brought on by the stress hormone, Cortizol.  But these clinical studies also found that
Cortizol was dramatically reduced and higher levels of Melatonin were found in patients who
practiced meditation for at least 15 minutes daily.  
  
Studies have further linked high stress levels with pregnancy complications such as high blood         
pressure, which can lead to preeclampsia and other complications such as preterm labor.  These studies found that

these complications in pregnant women.
